650 compression question

I was wondering how much compression should I expect from my 92 650 cyclinders?

Assuming it's stock, 150psi max.

its stock. It holds at a 100 psi. I'm thinking about honeing out the cyclinders, what do you guys thnk?

What made you question the compression?

Lack of power?

Kind of. I know its only a 650 , but it just seems like i should be moving along a little faster than now. I ran next to a seadoo with a speedmeter, it read 43mph. Not sure if that sounds right or not. I just figured it should have more low end .

Don't ever listen to those POS speedmeters. They're always way off. Test with a gps.

But, that sounds pretty close. My completely stock 650 SJ goes somewhere around 35mph.

What do you mean by "more low-end"? Do the hole shots suck?

Check with a known good gauge.

I just wouldnt mine a little more torque out of the hole... I guess I need 701 ... LOL

You should replace the piston rings, too.

So I wanted to say thanks to everyone on the X. A simple ride to the autostore gave me my answers. I check ed compression with a brand new gauge and it reveiled that I have 148 psi on both cyclinders. So once again thanks guys for all your help.
