550 sealing for subbing

I have a 83 kawasaki 550 and i am looking to get it set up so that it will not take on water when i sub it. It has a porthole in the top and i am trying to figure out if i can cut it out and seal it. will this allow enough air for the engine to run properly. what is the best way to go about doing this.

if you remove the front tube from the inside then seal it up. then add a second tube to the rear intake net to the other 1 , then adding a few extra intake holes to the rear of the hood it will be able to be inverted as along as the back of the hood is above water and for subs there will be a pocket of air behind the ski that it will draw from to get back to the surface

cover the hole with a bit of fiberglass, paint and call it a day. will still have enough air to the motor. make sure your hood seal is in good condition, that brings in a lot of water on the 550
