This past month I finally pulled the trigger on a WDK RIP hull. I’ve been wanting to build one for as long as I can remember, it’s a true bucket list item for me. To some this will seem like an insanely expensive project and to others it will seem like I’m cutting costs at every opportunity, both are true. I hope to balance building an entry level flat water ski on a budget while also not saving a dollar now only to have to spend $2 later down the road to get to where I’m trying to go. My goal is to backflip this ski off a boat wake this summer.
The ski arrived in Vancouver, WA from Wisconsin last night and I have to say for my first ski shopping experience I was shocked how easy and affordable it was ($435), albeit a bit nerve racking.
The hull showed up in good used condition. It certainly has some nicks and chips but is overall in good condition. In a certain way I prefer it that way, so I won’t feel as bad for the beating it’s going to go through while I learn to flip.
