Just finished my first complete from scratch build. When i tried to fire up the engine it turns right over but will not fire up. I got plenty of compression, its getting fuel, however there is no spark. I did use an old set of plug boots that came with the stock ski. My new boots are the MSD. Anybody else have any pointers with this problem? Any help is appreciated. Oh yeah and with the MSD boots is the little amount of wire exposed off the coil wires enough to create a spark to ignite the plugs? The wire does not quite touch the end of the crimped fitting?

How "from scratch" was the build? Did you have the electrical system completely disassembled?

can you post a pic of the crimped fitting and wire? MSD has at least two different types of terminals, and the crimping might be your problem if you're not familiar with doing that type of thing...with any luck, it could be something as easy as that.

I ran some diagnostics on the ignition and at the end of the testing i found there was a full 12 volts running to the red power wire of the CDI but i found that there was nothing registering when i tested the coil wires? So my problem is something with the wiring which is causing the Coil to not fire? I'm baffled! Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the 2005 SXR 800. I have the book but the ignition wiring is a little different?

When i said from scratch. I gutted the entire hull repaired the hull damage and did base coat clear coat paint job. Did the motor from the crank up. The motor is tuned but stock bottom end and jug. Did the ignition as well. Thinkin about wiring the stock ignition to see if that will fire the coil up? We will see.
