yeah, i got my posts mixed up...

Mike, ur build is looking good... keep up the killer work.

Thanks. It is a PITA but worth it in the end.

what did you foam every thing with ??
is is the 2 part or the canned beans junk??

can you use the canned stuff also??

I used 3lb 2 part foam from US Composites. Even the 3lb stuff is strong. If you use a drill with a wire brush it makes it easy to shape the foam.
Also before I layed the glass over the foam I mixed up a little 404 filler and put a thin layer on top of the foam to help the glass stick to the foam. I'm sure it added strength as well.

Got the engine back in. Waiting on a new steering cable and pole spring to finish up.

The ski is looking awesome. I just finished tearing mine apart to do the same thing. Thanks for posting the pics.
Is that reed spacer necessary to use the OEM flame arrestor with the girdled head?

Where did you get it?

Does it require any jetting changes or different reeds?

Thanks man. When you do the pole area, hang it from the ceiling like I did where you can just walk under it. makes it alot easier.
You don't really need the reed spacer. You just don't have to do as much cutting on the FA to clear the head. It just looks better IMO. No jetting or reed changes are needed either.
I got the reed spacer and girdled head from Kevin at www.legdrag.com. Nobody can beat his prices.

In the post above yours.

Mike, are you saying it was "cold" in FLA this morning?...lol

Everything is relative but it was pretty damn cold for this Florida boy:icon16:
The air temp was in the low 50's and the water temp was probably in the 60's. I imagine the Cumberland is a little cold this time of year as well.

Thats about normal here, only the water is warmer than here.

Stock turf removed. What a PITA.
Here is a good tip for removing the adhesive residue left behind by the stock mats if it didn't come off with the turf. (none of the residue came up with mine) Spray some gasket remover on the residue and let is sit for a few minutes. Then you can scrape it right off with a squeegie. Then use some goo Gone to get the rest. FYI, gasket remover wont hurt the gelcoat however it will strip off regular paint.

Footholds go in tomorrow.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
if you dont have a good method planned for cutting out the footholds (I bet you do... but just in case you dont...)

I used a roto zip tile cutting bit (about 4 bucks cheaper than the dremel bit... same thing and works in a dremel...)

It cut the foothold outline like cutting through butter. Got the idea from reading some other posts on here. Gotta love this site. Looking good man! Im trying to stay a step ahead of ya! :)

Your so far ahead of me, I haven't even started my build thread with the pics I took a month ago. My empty, stripped hull sits under a pile of new parts. Your ski is looking good, man.

PITA is full blown reinforcement, I might get done today if my back stops hurting.

I hear you. I'm glad to get my reinforcement done. That sucked.
You have your ski hanging high enough to just walk under it? I had mine high enough where I didn't have bend over.

I have one in my dremmel ready to go.:Banane09: On my last two foothold installs I used a Saw Zall but it was all I had. Rotozip bits are the way to go. I hope to be done with the turf after Christmas. I will definatelly take my time though.

Thanks man. It's nice to start with a newer ski with no issues. You building up a RN or SN?

One of each, SN for my wife will be just a rec setup but I bought the hull and motor separate. My RN will be similar to yours. Thanks for the great pics and ideas.
