id get some footholds. theyre inexpensive and not hard to install once you have all materials and tools laid out. gotta returf the ski though, thats where it may not be worth it if it doesnt already need turf. footstraps can easily break an ankle if something goes awry.

i dunno... i think x2's are easier to mount because theyre lower. different beasts altogether, IMO. the yami is definately more reliable, but i dont think the hull is as fun as the x2 with a solid engine.
round is generally the "coveted" one. they look more modern and are worth more and there are more aftermarket hull components available. squares can be found for pretty cheap. i dont think one hull type is more reliable than the other.
650s and 701s are both very reliable engines. the two...
could be a loose battery wire. could be a loose ground on the engine or positive on the starter. could be that your starter is tired.
i would bet on a loose wire.
if the ball on the turnplate is in the outermost hole (if there is more than one), you can modify the steering nozzle by drilling a hole inward from the position of the existing ball and placing the ball in the new hole. youll have to grind the front left and right part of the nozzle to allow...

stock x2's are all generally the same. they come with the 650 and the earlier years have a smaller carb. easily upgradable.
for a stock SJ, you basically have 3 choices:
90-93 which is the old style (squarenose) with a 650 engine.
94-95, still a squarenose but with a 701 cc engine...
