I'm just going out on a limb here and say that the motor will need to be pulled, crank inspected/rebuild and trueing. Then new top end which the cylinders are nikasil.

You can't really rebuild the carbs. The N/S should be replaced if needed. Dennis kirk or eBay.

The monoblock had some oiling issues with the crank. I think the 96'smight be the newer style motor with individual jugs on it. Much better motor.

Sorry, cabin fever has really overtaken me this winter. LOL On a side note I've used Pennzoil synthetic to break in my Ultra 680 motor this winter. Didn't notice any difference. The only reason I went with the synthetic is being that it was actually cheaper than the mineral oil.

You guys realize that all that "synthetic" oil is a mineral oil that is refined more than the "conventional" oils are right?

Been loving this winter! Snow has been deep and the shredding is good! Burned through almost 30 gallons of gas yesterday in my mod triple. Snow is on average 3 feet deep. Don't need to go out on the trails when all the fun is in the fields. Too many out of state jokers overrunning the trails...

Best fuel line is Yamaha OEM.
