No Yami uses a three coil stator, an exciter, a trigger and a charging coil, Kawi is a two coil stator, an exciter and a charging coil, no way to interchange it without swapping the whole setup.
I believe I robbed a source coil off of a Yami 62T for the last stator I built for the flat deck 650sx, it works perfectly, you are correct the stator plates are basically the same except for the way they are positioned on the engines.I would assume you could create new slots in the stator...
From replying to this guy over at PWCT apparently he believes he can run the 750 CDI off of a 650 stator , I am waiting to hear back on this one as I have never seen or heard of it being done before.I personally don't believe there is any way it will work but I will be happy to sell him this...
You are wanting to clear coat over the barnacles and the Waterlogged Factory sticker I assume, I will have to order up 5 gallons of clear but I don't see a problem with it, I mean how much more can it weigh right?

You are running too much popoff pressure,and your needle and seat is bad.
Popoff controls from around 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, what you described the ski doing is a dead giveaway that you have the popoff set too high.
The popoff spring that came in carb as it was on the yamaha should have been dead...
