You can close off the air intakes and not damage the stock paint. After you cut out the louvers tape up the holes and glass from the inside (must remove the liner first).

I had one of those as well as my friend, called them the Crayola twins. Sadly, both are flat black right now. I think there's some instant cool factor in keeping the stock graphics or close to them on older skis.
