Tiny tach will not work for tuning carbs they are junk for anything other than an hour meter, you will need a real tach. I recommend a Fluke. Mark44

Yes the tube is hollow like a long mini hole saw. It does not come in contact with the spike inside the coil it just pulls the wire out. Mark44
