Yes the right way is with metal retaining bands, the wrong way is with zip ties like they did at the factory, oil lines pop off of these on a regular basis.

I had one on a Seadoo that eluded me, I filled the whole damn thing with water and pressurized the engine, then I found air coming out of the front engine cover wire grommet, brand new front crankshaft seal was bad.

If all else fails Gil, plug up the exhaust and intake, pressurize the engine and dunk the whole thing underwater in a large shop sink, the air pressure keeps the water out of the engine and your air leak should be easy to spot.
