With 1K to spend on a ski that needs work I would look for a SN Superjet.
For $1500 you should be able to find a nice one ready to ride with some tasty mods done already.
That has served me well.
In the past the good stuff was sold here and the rest went on ebay. Than we had an influx of those who were only into skis to part them out and make a quick buck. They would sell parts without knowing what they had or how to check them not only killing the parts market...
I remember when they were building that pipeline. Before that Bondi beach (yep, that tourist trap in Sydney) would get rather brown from time to time.
Oh the good times when you could get a snack while waiting for the next set to roll in.
The lotion works when it's hot and humid like all year here in SWFlorida.
The hot/cold shower afterwards does wonders to open and close your pores and let all the glass fall away.
