you dont torque them down, you just snug them enought to keep the hood from coming off in the event of a latch failure
as for the holes in my tray.. dont worry about that. I have no leaks. I know what I'm doing.
that Eye is so close to the dash of the ski I dont see me hittin git wit my foot...
thought of that... But I almost think that the inserts would get ripped out before the stainless fittings bent. I may be wrong though. any other ideas are welcome for consideration.
the ratchet straps are just run under the pole bracket.
I measuered out the hole placement and cut holes acordingly in them for the mouning bolst to pass through. then I used a lighter to singe the edges of the holes to prevent fraying.
I still havent trimmed them th there final length yet.
Homebrew Pole limiter and hood straps.
I made some threaded inserts and drilled small holes into the tray for them to drop into. then used 5200 to glue them in place. when the cured added a little more to the edges of the large stainless fender washers that held the inserts to help reduce air...

as for the car annalogy... I hate the way my truck looks, but it was IMHO the best truck based on my comparisons.
depends on what you call an upgrade.
if you feel that geting new pole brackets and low-pro hoods and such to get the same effect that you would get from a stock SN is an upgrade... then yeah, there are lots more. :jester:
I was to some stupid Shizz in the surf last fall on my couch and smacked my face ( chin bar on my helmet ) hard enough on the grab bar to break it in half. have also had the boat hit me in the head after losing it going a llittle TOO big.
Not wearing a lid in the surf is like having casual sex...
