its a 14' whaler thats got a crusty 650 in it. it runs, however. i have a mint 62t 701 that will be replacing it very soon. im not even going to give the 650 a chance to leave me stranded. it comes with a 144,\mm wr3 pump assembly w/reverse. its got electric trim tabs too. can you say "keys...

its possible that you didnt seal the f/w area properly when you installed the f/w and now water is getting in and rusting your bendix. thats a fairly common occurance.

i had that problem on my square. i leaned out the bottom a little and it went away. i cant remember if it was as simple as turning in the bottom screw or raising the pop off as to not be overcome by the massive 'choke' that the bilge area gets when the air vents in the hood are sucking in water.

i usually pack the void between the 2 rear seals full of grease. :dunno:

riva doesnt have the exact gasket, but they have one thats VERY close to it. you just have to elongate one of the 3 bolt holes to get it to work. no biggie. good luck describing it to them and getting the right one though.

id tear it down and make sure theres no more metal in there. all it takes is a tiny chard of metal in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong rpm to do non-repairable damage. you could also be fine, but why take the chance? with that said, i have brand new, and perfect used, 650 reeds...
