It probably isn't the best idea but I took apart an engine last year that ran great and had mixed halves (I didn't know it till I tore it down).
SBT doesn't match any of their Yamaha cases.
A 650SX is lighter, but not by much (I'd guess 5 pounds). Your friends SJ must be really waterlogged.
My first standup as a 650Sx and I loved it at the time, but I really can't think of anything I like better about the 650SX...
I liked the red steering nozzle the best :arms:
That doesn't look too bad to me, if it were mine I'd probably just smoothen it out with a file. Of course it would be better to send it to Impros, but that'd be about $80.
Time for some reinforcement!! They really must be making them thinner nowadays.
I don't think that's is a common crack, but it happened to Sharky's ski last year, he said it was from pulling too many backflips in the surf (his hull was pretty trashed overall).
You measured the compression, right? If it's good, just give it a light hone. You only have 1 overbore left.
The screw might be in your waterbox, take it out and check.
I don't think many people balance cranks, I've only seen one that looked like it's been balanced.
However, cranks absolutely have to be trued. Truing (sp?) ensures that the rods are 180 degrees out of phase.
