SMC is a combo of chopped fiberglass and plastic, polyester resin will not stick to it, Vinyl ester resin will stick to it if you get into the fiberglass center layer, epoxy will stick to it regardless of what you do and is the best all around resin to use for repairs on SMC, its damn near idiot...
