    may want to take the ear plug advise someone mentioned earlier. cant really say if i thought it helped performance or not, been a while since i last rode your ski but i personally like how it sounds.

    filters on inside of carb. just tare it down like you was gonna rejet them, youll find the internal filter

    could possibly be an air leak. spray soapy water around engine while its running, or do a leak down test

    it does matter, the water doesnt flow correctly. a buddy of mine found out first hand when he done it, blew the head gasket. if your standing on the right side of the ski {carb side} you should be able to read kawasaki on the head . what pipe or you running? some pics would help. if you cant get...
