Got the turf done I’m pretty happy with it for my first time. I screwed up big time with a mental mistake and cut it straight back. Did not have enough turf to redo. So just had to add a patch.
So glad to be done with this. Time to get it all back together.
Good idea, i peeled it and reglued it about 5 times using a heat gun. I know if i cut a slit in it i would stay. I may try pulling it back one more time and reglue it and try the balloon trick.
From what i noticed the heat gun works really well but the turf return back to original shape and...
All good dude no worries at all!
Anyways got the sides done. Not the best but I’ll take it for first time foot hold turfing. Done a couple without holds. The underside of the hold really struggled to stick. May still have a small bubble but it will work I think.
I think I’m officially done with the glass. Cleaned the ski up last night with soap and water to get the dust off.
I need to
Turf
Put the rear drains in
Get the cleaned carbs back together
Get the motor in
Then it should be ready to ride. My wife is gone for 2 weeks so I should have tons of...
Thanks guys for the input. I felt it this morning and it seems really stout. The floor and everything turned out really good imo.
Along the top rails a little bit flipped up. I will have to sand it down. I may do one more layer to be sure it holds because It did not look the best.
Here is...
Making progress. I have 4 layers of 17oz biax on the floor and 2 layers on all the seams. Was kind of thinking of doing a big sheet tying in the floor to the top where the black squares are and calling it good. Not sure what you guys think on layers? Do I need more?
From ebay who knows. Seems to hold up so should work. I thought they were from a guy just making them himself. Maybe i made a bad decision but they seem to work.
Really excited. This was a big step for me. I tried multiple times to get the footholds in and kept having problems. They are cheaper ones so they did not fit the best. I was struggling to get them to lay flat in all areas. I got myself a new rivet gun with some more power and also some bigger...
I am kind of doing both. Once i get the foot holds epoxied and riveted in place i will be cruising i think. I will just need to do a bunch of glassing which is not super hard. Then comes turf.
I will trim them some. Bit confused on how to trim them to make them fit well. I think trim the top flange down in all areas. The main issue with these is they dont sit quite flat so i will need some help from screws to get them to flex down a tad.
I have both side footholds fitted. Just need to get them epoxied and riveted in place. Mine fit like crap. They are cheap ones that are prob homemade. I will prob have to trim and stuff on them a tad.
I will say the easiest part of this was the defoam. You are still excited about the project at...
