Yes this is true!

Sorry, I was referring to the pump seal itself. I had to take mine down about 2mm for it to fit correctly and it still gets plenty of compression. For the exposed steel ring in the seal I used RTV ultra black to seal it up. Its not perfect but it works and I'll never see it!
