No you won’t need to change it, IF your running the same fuel, and the epic cdi, flywheel, stator and coil was running good on your prev engine, 701 or big bore or small Stroker.
I found the epic Hx3 to be sensitive and finicky on my Lamey.. ran like poo with aluminum charging flywheel.. ran normal with OE flywheel. Engine ran very well with a enhancer timing curve installed. I’ve tried many curves and lots of adjustments. The ignition doesn’t seem to administer the curve map well, starting timing is too much and lots of intermittent kick back on start up and couldn’t even fire a 16mil 1200 when an Msd enhancer could no problem…
if the ignition is new to you and you’ve not run it before? I’d run a stock cdi or Msd enhacer first and establish your engine runs well first..
Then switch to the epic ignition, that way if it runs poorly you’ll know what’s not causing the issue and shorten the chase my tail routine i went thru…
Chris and his wife at ATP were very helpful to me like mentioned above ^^
