carb rebuild troubles

Hey all i just tried rebuilding my carbs and it won't start up now (it would start before, but would bog for a while)


I put a little starter fluid in the Air filter and it will start, but shuts down (so the fuel is not getting there I would imagine)


I just tooik teh carb apart again and here are some pics....There seemed to be fuel EVERYWHERE...in the one part, Posted, there is a one part, the brass piece with an rubber ring on it. Should there be one on the tip as well making there two total rubber rings?


I am an idiot, i really don't know what i am doing....any other things?

I have posted the pictures as i broke it down. Are they in the right order? Am i using the right pieces, i couldnt tell too much what pieces were what from the diagram.

Check the exploded diagram and make sure you put it back together right.

Here is a quick tip .pull the return line and spin it over,does it have fuel coming out of the carb ,if it does its pumping fuel,now remove the cover plate and main diaghpram,is there fuel in there,if so you have something else going on.Make sure your lines are hooked up right fuel in on the bottom out on the top pulse in the middle.

Thanks, no there is no fuel coming out of the carb. How much should come out? Drips?


PS what does the 'pulse' do. It seems as though it is an airtight seal ( i tried sucking/ blowing air through it , and it doesnt)

no i am sure they are hooked up correctly


main fuel line is the bottom right (when looking at it) fuel return is top right, and pulse is the left

Take the return line off the tank then remove the fuel supply line from the carb. Pressurize the fuel tank through return line inlet on the tank to make sure you have fuel flow through the reserve and on position. If not you have an obstruction.

Just to answer your question about "what does pulse do"..

Your motor operates with Primary and Secondary compression. Primary compression is the compression below the piston and in the lower crank case(commonly around 3-6 psi), secondary compression is the compression in the cylinders and combustion chamber.

Your diaphram in your carb is operated off of the primary compression/ Pulse. This compression "flexes" the diaphram which in turn pumps fuel through your carbs.
