Engine Painting Stand

I know I posted this in the My Build thread but here it is again.
Today I made a engine painting stand. I got to thinking about how my painter was going to be able to paint my motor with out Phucking it up.
When I primed it I did it in two positions. Right side up and up side down.
This way he can just pivit it on the crank.
Its held by each end of the crank with aluminum pipe. I wrapped the crank ends up real good with tape and slid it in the pipe.
Its not fancy cuz I was in a hurry and made it out of scrap.
I also had to put a arm lock on it so the motor would stay upright (heavy side up). that was easy, just a piece of aluminum to catch a bolt.

I ride 90% salt water. I am trying to salt proof everything.
Not painting the bottom is like not changing your underwear. After a while its going to get nasty down there. I even went as far to deburr all the casting lines and sharp edges.

I will be taping up the gasket surface's for the paint job.

The primer Im using is for aluminum, Etching aluminum primer the can says. I will look and see if it has zinc in it tonight.
It is pretty durable from what I can tell.

#.0 I can hook you up with the aluminum mounting pieces if needed.

I will be removing it with Xylene and scotch brite. I didnt get much on the gasket surfaces.
If I dont get 100% of it off it will be ok.

you were taping anyway? why not tape them off?

when I blasted and painted my cases, I spent hours with tape and a razor blade trimming. (duct tape for blasting, blue painters tape for paint)

seems like it would be easier to tape it and just peel away.

because when you tape and trim sometimes it leave sticky on the edge of the gasket surface. When you remove the tape the sticky will leave a small void for water/salt to get under the primer.
Weakest link to a paint job are 90 Degree corners. thats why I put a 1/64 rad. on all of the sharp edges with my drimmel. I wanted the primer to actually wrap around that corner of the gasket surfaces. I will then go back and scotch brite the gasket surfaces clean leaving the outer corner wrapped in primer.
Then I will go back and tape up the gasket surfaces for paint.
Its alot of work but I think its worth it.
Remember, Im not building a POC. No way, thats not me.
