Just saying hi i just bought my first jet ski and im loving it its an 84 550 with a few aftermarket goodies on it. I have a few questions about it tho. How can i tell if its a js or sx 550? Also what are some good parts sites for it?

reed cage engine vs. Piston port for one thing. but if it's an 84 it should be a PP unless someone swapped it.

as for parts for that thing... ebay is your friend unless you like getting raped.

Well the ski already has plenty of power for me but i would like a different set of handle bars and really a oversized gas tank.

Well i seen a 5gal tank for a 550 and i would like to get it since i ride all over the lake when i follow my family in the ski boat.

dont bother. 550s make gas. you can run one for hours unless you run it WFO all the time, which nobody does.

Thanks you to i dig your sons 105 sx those are to cool. Well i ran out today, i dont know im going to give it another try cause i didnt fill it to the top. Do you know where to get some different handlebars?

go to egay and get a quick steer and some 0 deg bars, and ODI lock on grips. one stop shopping and cheap

Ok thanks man, are the ODI lock on grips for atvs but work for jetskis as well? I was thinking about buying to sets of my mx grips and putting those on.

bicycle I believe. the are the ones with the aluminum clamps on the to keep them in place. much better than grip glue andsafety wire.
