The realities of sponsorships

Boy thats a good read I think the following quote may help a few people in this sport !! QUOTE:(We like to see the parents who come in with their kids and the kid is just as interested in working with the parts counter people as the parent is in the order process. This means that the kid is interested in learning and being actively involved with the process.

“Then there are the kids who wander off, unaware of what the parent is doing for them. Those kids are generally kicking around goggle straps, buggy whips and swank in another corner of the shop.”

On the right track

There have been plenty of times a potential sponsor will ask a racetrack official for a ‘sportsmanship, or BEHAVIOR, REPORT’ before issuing a deal. This is part of the decision process to figure out if one may or may not be a good representative for their business.

Losing sponsorship is a reality too. In rare cases if a rider has been known to cause an issue that mars the sport’s image the entire race community may (at times) impose a very long and silent boycott on the sponsor.) Does that ring a bell ?

yeah.. it was a good write up. The part about the "behavior report" was dead on. I remember how pissed my sponsors were when I got DQ'd duiring a mountain bike event back in the day. After my rear deraileur broke during a DH event, I tossed the bike over the side of a cliff. I thought it was funny as hell, the race officials and my sponsors were NOT ammused.:lmao:
