Winterizing oops, help question....

So I'm spraying fogging fluid into the spark plug hole while holding down start button, with the little red plastic spray straw attached to the can's spray nozzle. Well I look away for a moment, look back and it's gone and I figure it flung off. Searched around for it, couldn't find it anywhere, so I took of the head off and there sat 2 large pieces in the exhaust manifold. I suspect there may be a small piece (maybe 1/4 inch) still in the engine somewhere. If the small piece went thru the exhaust manifold it shouldn't be a problem, right? I figure it'll just blast out. Although if that small piece went into the intake opening in the cylinder, what might happen, can this be a big problem and where does that intake opening lead to?. Since I am not a professor with engines, can you help me understand what the story is, and what I should do, if anything at all? A simple task turned bad! :Eyecrazy:

some will say you need to tear the whole engine down, some will say it most likely blew out the exhaust.

This is not a question that any of us can really answer.......

most likely if a little piece got into the cases it will work its way out without any damage, but, that is an unknown........you might want to remove the exhaust system, hoses and see if you can locate the rest of pieces......

I have no reason to tear it apart. Actually I just replaced the pistons in the spring and it's been running well. So Mouthfull, your vote would be leave it alone, a small piece of plastic may or may not be in there, if so, will probably burn up or just get ejected, plus metal and aluminum is much harder material. Leave it. Would it make easy sence to take off intake manifold and inspect that area?

the only way I could see it causing trouble was if it got into the reed area, but I doubt it would from a plug hole.

It COULD imbed itself into a rod bearing, but I think it would wash/melt away pretty quickly.

I dont think I would worry much personally, but, there is always that chance you know?

have some one blirp the throttle a coupe of times, and shoot some in the carb.

thats generally what the instructions say to do isnt it?

I did that ONCE, years ago, the first winter I had a PWC.

Now I just scrape the snow off and crank them once a month or so during the winter.

My new way of winterizing...., Well, I shoot Fogging Fluid down carbs, while running. Siphon gas tank empty. Remove spark plugs, shoot some in the holes, then drop plastic straws in, while cranking engine and then roll in corner of garage..... Then I wait till Christmas break and tear apart entire F**king top half to look for a 1/4 to 1/2 inch remaining piece of F**king straw still somewhere in engine. :ugh2::biggrin::Flush: :grumble:

Actually, I'll check the exhaust real good (I recently purchased a new Factory pipe so that's going on anyways) and then take off the intake manifold and check that side out real good (I have to take off the carbs anyways for a rejetting) and if it don't show up I am not going to let it bother me anymore. If it is hanging around in there, I hope it will disolve or break up and blast out. Everyone I talked to including 2 local shops said really shouldn't be a problem.
