You need 4-5 cubic foot of foam.
The 5 cuft kit of 3lb foam that US Composites sells is perfect.

that's what i used on my SN a few years back... the back end felt heavy to me though. anyone ever use the 2lb kit? I was thinking about doing this on my new RN project, and adding a little extra reinforcement under the tray.

ok, so one more question then...

2 lb foams saves 4.5 lbs of total weight - but structurally how would it hold up against a rider's weight and pounding on it? i mean 4.5lbs is 4.5lbs... LOL

Several people have run with 2lb foam without any issues.
Proper mixing is the key.
I've seen 3lb foam that was absolutely ********ty because it wasn't mixed right.

temperature and humdity place a huge part in the expansion rate of any foam. I have mixed in summer time the same as winter and had different results, can be frusterating for sure.

It will work fine like Matt said mixing is key.

cool... thanks... what's optimum temp/humidity? I did my SN in the winter in the shop heated with a wood burning stove, about 85 degrees in there... low humidity...

Make sure both liquids are warm. If they're cold they are hard to mix and won't expand right.
I usually microwave both cups I am about to mix.
