Winterizing my 1st jet ski?????

What needs to be done, I did a search but still not sure... On my boat, inboard, we will fog and drain water from block, then start up and run anit freeze through the block until we see it coming out the exhaust...

Does any one try to put antifreeze in the jet ski?

hook up a scrap piece of hose to your flush kit start it up and pour antifreeze through it till you have antifreeze coming out... then shut it off

drain your tank completely if you can... not sure how well premix sits though

pull the plugs and spray fogging oil in the cylinders and put a fresh set of plugs and....store it with the hood off or propped open and covered

Oh and I just vacume water out of the pipe and cylender throuh the line on the head. Then fogging oil from Advanced Auto into carbs while running for a few seconds then remove pluggs and fogg both cylenders liberally.

I read in one of the PWC magazines that a better way is to fill the tank up completely and pour Sta-bil in it. That keeps condensation from forming in the gas tank, and will also help get sta-bil into all the fuel lines when you run the engine to flush the exhaust/fog/antifreeze cooling. :dunno:

what is winterize?

crank it every month or so, and do nothing else.QUOTE]

That's how I "summer-ize" my quads. Works fine.

Winterizing is something mech shops sell to people to make an extra buck before the cold season.

What is this "winterization" that you speak of?

:hitwithrock: @#$%! southerners!!!!!

get a dry suit
Only works so long then the water gets a bit hard......

Will admit it seems a it early to winterize...I have at least another month.

For me:

1. Make sure tank has at least 3/4 and stabil added.
2. Start up and blow water out.
3. Flush with RV antifreeve.
4. Grease everything! No water left anywhere!
5. Start and fog till it dies.
6. Pull plugs and fog pistons some more.
7. Vacuum ALL water out of bottom and then let air dry.
8. Remove battery and store in warm area...possibly with tender.
9. Do not seal hood when storing. Leave some sort of air gap or hideous things will grow.

this is the method I have been using for years.

That is pretty much all I do, I check / charge the batteries before I crank them also. A little fogging oil in the cyls helps as the bores will rust faster than you think. With all this global warming and riding Daytona in Jan. it seems like winter is over before you know it. Sometimes we can get a warm day in March that calls us out, and we have to hit the cold water.
