beware of footholes. If you fall in one, you may twist and break you ankle!:stups:

oh, you mean footholds!:clown:

they are important for, well, freestyle. using them you become one with the boat and it makes most tricks easier. you can start without them, but once you ride a ski with them, you will want a set on your ski!

for the most part, you really only need them once you start getting inverted... Back Flips, Barrel Rolls etc. Although, there have been some riders that have been able to BR without them.

I love having them even when not trying inverted tricks though... Alot of the time i will just use my toes slightly in them to help control the back of the ski a little more during nose stabs and other tricks.

I would say if you are just starting out riding a stand up, just ride it for a while without them... get used to riding the ski and get comfortable on it before going to town with a ton of mods.

just my .02 cents

No worries, its all good:fing02:
Just hard to answer vague questions.
I use WD Revs and they make he tray so much wider and more comfortable.
Various tricks use both feet in footholds, surf stance (one foot in the foothols one in the front of the tray), etc
There are just a lot more stance options and boat control with footholds

My ski came with some lifter wedges glued on and they have been nice. You could go that route before foot holds if you like. You could glue them on in just a few mins and sort of get an idea. I'm going to get some real foot holds soon, but the wedges have been much better than nothing as I have been learning to sub.
