What can I do about water intake??

My 97 super jet is running so sweet and I'm really digging it. My problem is I keep getting water in my carbs. I'm running dual black jack 44's with Tauceti conical filters. I am running Pro-tec pre filters on the outside. Anytime I get the nose up in the air or roll on its side I get water in my carbs. What is everyone running or what can I run with Dual 44's. I would love to run the stock airbox but I don't think it will mount up. If you can show a pic that would be awesome. Below is my setup.

do you have a bilge pump?

also i believe you can take the stock airboxes and cut them to fit over the girdled head, that will help with that. i would also try spraying the watersox with a repelent of somekind, i used to use silicone spray before riding, take them off and douse them really good, than let them dry. i wonder if scotch gard would work?. hope this helps.

I have a single bilge right now that I pretty much keep on the entire time. I have a buddy with a machine shop so Ill see what I can come up with on spacers shown above.
Would the dual intake tube work that comes stock on superjets? My ski seems to take on quite a bit of water when ridding. I blocked off all the intake holes on the front of the hood with alum tape.

I also need a coupler cover. My bilge is mounted on a alum bracket that mounts to the same mounts as the cover does. I wonder if my bilge will be in the way of the cover? I might be able to cut a chunck out so it fits around the bilge pump. Does anyone know if the coupler covers are the same throughout all the years? Will a SN cover fit a RN? Thanks.

I made a plate that moves the stock duel flame arrestor towards the side of the ski about a ½”.

i was running Prok filters with Fly Racing prefilters and having the problem. I went back to OEM air boxes and just cut them to fit around the girdled head. much better!

if your not running a coupler cover , water will splash up into your carbs like crazy. get a coupler cover ... brand new from a dealer $15

p.s. Just ckecked out wammers site for the intake. 85 bucks a pop plus the stock intakes I would need to find.

There's your problem. What kind of hood are you running? Sounds like you're getting water in there too easily, and the lack of coupler cover is spraying it into the carbs. The stock flame arrestors will help, but I'd rather fix the problem than the symptom.

Brit, I am running the stock hood. I will be going down to the Yamaha shop to get a cover if I don't find a used one here soon. I am also going to install a second bilge since I have one sitting here to help pump the water out faster.

Mark, I just looked at my carbs and I don't think the plates will work because I have a venturi on top of my carbs that does not come off. So there is no way of bolting the plate down. The stock carbs must have bolts that run through them when being mounted. Thanks for your offer though.

Close the front holes and open the rear breathers out a little - that will help keep it a little drier in the engine compartment. Does the hood still have the two breathing tubes that go down low in the engine bay? I see people riding without them, and they're there to keep water out of he carbs. Definitely get yourself a coupler cover. With that, the front holes closed off and with the breathing tubes attached I think many of your problems will go away.

that will make a big diference. without a cover the coupler will sling water toward the carbs.

maybe a freestyle sponge would help....

get a square shaped water jug (from grocery store) and cut it to fit around your carbs. this is a $2 fix and keeps water from splashing into your intakes.

Very cool!! You can also throw your fire extinguisher in there to save space. Might cut down on the airflow though LOL.
