X-metal pole chinpad help... please

So I just got my x-metal pole today. I'm hoping to get it installed before Pismo this weekend, but I confused as what to do about the whole chin pad situation.

I purchased a blowsion carbon chin pad over a year ago, and was under the impression you could use it on an X-metal pole, but maybe I was wrong. I know you have to drill your own holes on the tabs of the pole for your chin pad mounting bolts, but the blowsion chin pad is too narrow to fully cover the mounting tabs. I imagine I could cut them shorter, but is the proper thing to do?

Also, the little tab on the lower interior part of the chinpad, do you just let it rest on the top of the x-metal pole? Do I cut if off b/c I am running the x-metal?

Any advice is appreciated :arms: Or should I just get a different chin pad????... what other companies make them? WCF if I remember looks nice on the x-metal.

Here are some pics I took with a chin pad I made just for the x metal pole. you can see how its mounted. if you are interested in one, I can make one for you. the way it is designed, you no longer need the support bolt. I have been riding with out mine for over a season now without any problems.

Okay, so after holding this -4 pole up to my stock, cut down pole, I think it will be too short. I thought I had measured my stock pole to be cut down about 3.75", but maybe I measured wrong ?? :dunno:

I'm thinking that I should go -2", b/c if I need it to be shorter, I can run a shorter turnplate.

Any input on this decision to exchange it for a brand new -2"? I am 5'8", running Wamilton Rickter footholds installed as far forward as the exhaust tube would allow, standard length turnplate, with a waterdawg lowered bracket.

X-metal already said they would do the exchange, I just need to pay shipping back to them, and they didn't mention me paying shipping back out to me, but they may contact when my pole arrives to them and let me know about that then.

keep the -4, add the xmetal turnplate.........

for my WDK hull/pole I ordered a -5 + the short turnplate for a total of
-7.5

too late...

I think I'm going to go with the -2 pole, -2.5 x-metal turn plate, and -1.25 WDK bracket.

total -5.75 shorter than stock.

although when measuring the -4 x-metal pole compared to my -3.75 stock cut pole, the x-metal was still like -2" shorter than the stock cut down when looking at the center hole where the UMI steering bolts up.
