Riding last night :raincloud: and after about 20 mins i noticed my stright bar's started to rotate... look down and one of the U clamp that hold the bars on was missing... I dont know how i did not feel or notice it getting loose but somehow i lost both bolts and the U clamp to the lake.. One more thing i donated to my cove :indifferent:. Anyhow it got me worried, i know the umi steering nut gets loose, has anyone ever lost their bolt/bearing/housing riding? think i'm going to go buy some green loc-tight before i head home this afternoon...:grumble:

oH,, Ouch i'd be pissed if i lost my rideplate.. o_0 BTW how to you manage to loose headpipe/mani bolts? did the bilge shoot them out

Red Locktight on the top pivot bolt.

My guess is your clamp bolts broke and thats why you didnt notice them getting loose.

Toby snapped hid top pivot bolt off of th UMI once, they are not strong enough.

your prob right, i did a stab into the sand.. and i dont even get inverted on my stabs,, but the lake is now -4.4feet as of today

never used locktight can you still take bolt off if its installed... what actually does it do?

It locks bolts tight :naughty:

You can get them undone again, but there are different strengths. I have a stick of blue for stuff I want to come apart more easily, and red for stuff you hope never to have to move. Everything else gets anti-seize.

I lost a bolt from my handlebar clamp at Allatoona. I put my foot in the foothold and felt something in there - thought I'd picked up a pebble from the beach or something. I flicked it out with my toe and only realized it was the handlebar bolt as I saw it slide off the back of the tray and sink! :17:

Ha! Down here we have the opposite problem. I (we) must grease or put 1211 on every nut and bolt due to salt water - white powder is natures ultimate loc-tite.

Once in a while I see and get to take parts off a fresh water only ski and I drool how nice stuff looks and comes apart.
