I will be taking my pump out to replace my pump shoe in 2 weeks so I need some tips.

- Are there any special tools I need to get?

- Are there any seals I should replace while I am in there?

- Does anything need to be greased while I am in there?

- what kinds of sealants do I need to get? I am planning on using 5200 fast cure on the pump shoe. I think I have read to put silicon in the ride plate bolt holes. what else do I need to seal up before I put it back together? does the whole ride plate need to be sealed?

I have never removed a pump on a ski and I want this to go as smooth as possible so I can get back in the water quick.

Pump is pretty easy. Once you get the four mounting bolts removed from the pump itself, make sure you tug straight down on the pump before you try yanking it out the back of the ski. There is a dowel pin that won't allow the pump to be pulled straight back until it is first pulled straight down.

No special tools are needed unless your changing the prop.

Inspect your cooling and bilge hoses while your down there for cracks, rips, or tears. Replace as necessary.

It is a good thing to use silicone on the ride plate and pump mounting bolts holes. These bolts holes are notorious for allowing water to enter the area where foam is and water logging it.

I never seal the whole plate, just the holes. Just a waste of time and effort in my opinion. Maybe if you are looking for a top speed boat, but if not, don't waste the time... I hate silicone.

On the pump seal (rubber ring between pump and pump shoe) put a little marine grease on it before reinstalling just so that the rubber doesn't get all dried out and start cracking.
