Quick Turf Question

I've seen some skis with turf running down the side where the stock plastic rail is. And also at the very back corners of the ski where the rubber railings are.

question1: If I were to do this should I first remove the plastic and rubber rails or turf over them?

question 2: Is contact cement still the best to use on plastic?

:dunno:

1 - yes remove the plastic...

2 - use Dapp weldwoods contact cement...

I did my buddies rails... sanded them a little after removing the plastic, clean the surface good after that... then put three coats of cement on the turf and two on the rails... used a rubber mallot to work it in and clamps to hold it perfect... finally trimmed the turf at an angle upward to keep the water from catching and pulling on the turf...

incidentally, it was an Ultra 150 i did this on... came out cool...

Be sure to whack it with a rubber mallet and let the glue set for at least 24 hours before getting wet.

well, 1. his plastic was a mess and in some spots missing... and was to cheap to by replacement pastic (i.e. the cheap B-stock hydro). and 2. yeah he does some killer fountains though and other hood tricks...

it looks nice...
