so i picked up a fx1 on friday...its got a bpipe, bigger carb, aftermarket aluminum pole (which i believe is stock lenght), protec plate and grate and thats about it...its got plenty of motor...dosnt cavitate too bad but it absoloutly handles terrible....i fell more times in the first 10min on that than i do on my sj in a month....im assuming tubbies will make a huge difference as it seems that alittle more width up front would help alot...what else can i do???...i dont really want to buy an aftermarket pole bracket but i think the high pivot dosnt help w/ the handeling too much....show me your fx1s..i want to see what you guys do to these things to make them rideable...

ive ridden one once, and I dont recall it being too difficult, I just bought one for my wife.

Dang, if its hard to ride, Ill have to pay attention to this thread, or Ill never hear the end of the whining!

i just couldnt get it laid over on a rail for the life of me...it felt like my second or third time on a ski...it was really weird

No like winter
I think they just take some getting used to. I have an extended rideplate on mine but thats it, Im also running the stock pole bracket and a shortened AC pole. Some guys are running tubbies on their fx's.

They are certainly harder to lay down than an sj or any other bigger ski though.

I don't think the FX lays over like a super or SXR. The Jet Dynamics intake will halp a ton keeping that thing hooked up. I didn't notice a huge difference with the tubbies, but the lowered bracket with a shortened pole helped the most. My pole is -2 with the shortened Blowsion turn plate. I have another fx pole that I will probably shorten 3 in.

Oh, a super jet pump helps alot also.:purr:

I'm putting tubbies on my FX to see how it changes it's surf behavior and I only hope I don't screw up the way it currently handles! I think it just takes practice to handle an FX. If you've come from Kawi 440/550, then an FX is stable and a Superjet or SXR feels like it's got training wheels. If you've grown up riding Superjet/SXR then I imagine an FX feels like you're standing on a 2x4!

I hope my tubbies don't ruin that twitchy/nimble FX feel!
