Hi Guys

Is the SXR made of Epoxy or Polyester?

SMC is a combo of chopped fiberglass and plastic, polyester resin will not stick to it, Vinyl ester resin will stick to it if you get into the fiberglass center layer, epoxy will stick to it regardless of what you do and is the best all around resin to use for repairs on SMC, its damn near idiot proof.

The SXR has a gelcoat surface with one side finished. Therefore it is made in an open mold process.

SMC is used in closed mold processes or compression molding. That's why you have 2 sides finished.

Use vinylester and gelcoat on the hull, epoxy and paint on the hood.
