So who are you #2 Fan with only one post ?
It was me. Although others were aware of my intentions, here are the facts concerning who made this post and why:
1. I took the picture after being alerted to the fact that the trophy was destroyed and still scattered about the campsites.
2. I broke site rules and created another account in order to post what I did. For that I apologize. I should have used my true account.
3. I felt that if someone didn't post it, no one would know or therefore comment on the situation.
4. I admit to using poor judgement by creating another account to remain anonymous---mighta' been a little alcohol involved. :beerchug:
5. No where in my post did I question/bash Jason's riding abilities---just curious (and upset) as to how a "Pro" Freestyler could have a tantrum in front of junior riders. :dunno:
What happened to being sportsman like?
I don't really know---that's what bothered me so much.
this user must have a personal vendetta. I could care less what someone does with his own while "backstage." It would be different if this was done while on stage.
Nope---no personal vendetta here---just calling BS when I see it.
Jason's "stage" was the entire Nashville Shores site, IMO.
Dude with a post like this you are not going to make any friends on this board. Jason had an outstanding run and did several tricks that the other riders didn't even attempt.
I already have friends here, as you know, but I will probably lose a few on the way because of this situation. My true friends will understand why I was shocked and disgusted with Jason's whole attitude within a certain timeframe (anything after Pro Freestyle) on Sunday. Anytime I saw him BEFORE then was the Jason that everyone brags on---personable and positive in the Pits and the Tower. I agree with your assesment that Jason had an outstanding run---that was never questioned by me or my post.:banghead: Ray Charles can see that Stoyer's got skills.
Jason is passionate for sure, but he could try to be a bit more professional. Whatever the reason, stomping through a crowd of fans venting at the top of your voice is not good for getting support out there on the water. Jason is a great rider and is willing to spend time to help anyone, but he needs to understand that there's more to being a pro rider than just riding well, especially when you're in the spotlight at the pinnacle of your sport.
The contrast between Jason, Eric and Jeremy on Sunday was amazing. Jason alienated everyone by having a public temper tantrum. Eric was detached as usual, but connected with the crowd somewhat, and Jeremy went out there with his usual good humor and had everyone rooting for him. Jeremy is the man!!
Couldn't have said it better, Adrian.
I am totally shocked and upset with this display of un-sportsman like behavior!
HE DID THIS IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE GROUP OF JUNIOR RIDERS
Kathy---I'm not sure if either of my daughters will ever compete in this sport, but if they do, I would hope that they take it serious---but not so serious that they forget to have FUN. With kids racing at ten years of age now, we as a sport should be role models for them---especially when things don't go exactly as we want them to.
didn't he also just give a hull away to a junior rider? didnt he drive himself to every stop on the tour? didn't he do the announcing for amateurs? hasn't he helped countless riders in this sport (and many on this board, myself included?).
Yes, he gave the hull to a junior rider. Why didn't he give him the third place trophy as well??? That would have been classy.
Yes, he drove himself to the stops, just like most of the other riders/racers.
Yes, he announces for the AM's. A Surf and Turf event wouldn't be the same without him on the mic. I do know that there is compensation involved, not necessarily monetary, for some of the events he attends. Professional riders earn this for their efforts.
Yes, he helps a TON of people for free. He also earns money by helping people, i.e. training in other countries, building skis.
jason devotes his day to day life to this sport. he's out there involved, committed, and helping, putting his money where his mouth is. he's not the first pro guy ive seen have a temper breakdown. people are human.
Jason is classified as a Professional rider and has chosen to also make his living doing what he loves. He is living some people's dream life. When he has a "temper breakdown" as you put it, it makes me wonder what he is so bitter about.
i'm not defending his actions, but let's keep 'the big picture' in perspective.
I AM keeping the "Big Picture" in perspective---the kids.
Jason has obviously devoted his life to the sport---I did not question that---I'm questioning his behavior and whether it was appropriate.
everyone has their faults. this is one incident highlighted by a thread started by some coward hiding behind a keyboard in some hotel room somewhere, typical poser bs.
I certainly have my faults.
I'm curious as to what your criteria for being a "poser" is. I'm guessing that deep down you think that of me because I ride the boat that I do and don't have a big "bag of tricks" like you. If I can't ride any better than that I may as well get really pissed and go out and trash my hull in my driveway. OR---I can keep riding and having FUN. :headbang:
Jason has all his heart in freestyle, and he wears his emotions on his sleeve which isnt the best thing sometimes. You could tell he was pissed by the scoring, but didnt yell, cuss, throw, or break anything in front of the crowd. I saw several "WTF" reactions from amature riders after the poor scoring on saturday as well.
Only one pro rider had a clean run and didnt have to paddle to his boat. That was Stoyer. He did get screwed in my opinion. If breaking his trophy makes him release some anger so be it.
Ronny man---you know I always love hanging with you and Ally---but I respectfully disagree with some of your points. Jason is effectively "in business" for himself as a Pro Freestyler and Trainer. Therefore his standards in ALL aspects of his chosen profession should be to be the Bigger Man---Win, Lose, or Draw. I recall some yelling and cussing going on while trying to locate some starting fluid to get his ski going again.
I don't have a problem in the world that he broke his trophy. He earned that trophy, along with another "high points" trophy, and has the right to destroy his own personal property. I just think he chose the wrong place to do it---anywhere outside of Nashville Shores would have been suitable for me.
I can't believe that so many people are so willing to defend such unsportsmanlike behavior just because they are friends with the guy. If it was anyone else you'd all be saying how bad something like that is for "the sport".
Exactly---100% agree.
Other pro riders smashed their trophy as well, one even showed the jr riders how to properly break them on a tree.
But, of course Stoyer is the only one getting trashed for it.![]()
You got pictures?!?
In all fairness, I saw a couple other trophies being tossed. I wasn't impressed. I had no idea that this was common practice in this or other sports. Forgive my ignorance, please.
I guess we'll have a trophy chuckin' contest next year immediately following the awards ceremony. Note to self: Buy stock in Nashville Trophy Shop next year.:27:
Yes he's a great rider, but his ego and anger are getting the best of him.
That is not good for the sport---maybe there will be an improvement.
He should channel that anger in to winning the next competition, grown men shouldn't act that way period especially when in the company of racers/riders that he has influence over...
Spot on, Andre.
Maybe the trophy just wouldnt fit in the celica?
Jason had a beef with nashville.....he did what he did and left it in nashville. Whatever.
Maybe you guys havent heard of "Trophy Chunkin" but it is done in a few sports other then ours. Most usually make a game out of it and see who can throw the furthest but what ever.
C'mon, Jess---he gave away a HULL. He had room for the trophy.
Only time will tell if he "left it in Nashville." :cool2:
I have HONESTLY never heard of "Trophy Chuckin'" until now---midget tossing, yes. :haha:
No....actually it was picked up from the street by the very juniors that got the pleasure of seeing it being destroyed......
Yep---no dumpster diving for me. Although I did "arrange" the random pieces for the photograph.
Jeesh---this is by far my longest and most embarassing post. I discredited myself by creating another account, but I stand by my reason to draw attention to this. I hope that everyone will respect my opinions as I have stated them. Really I'm harmless. :silly:
In conclusion, I would like to personally invite Jeremy Parr, Paul Lehr, Pat Bogart, Michael Ratti, Harrison Lanford, Jesse Martin and any and every freestyler that can make it to the November race in Panama City Beach. I actually spoke with Jason concerning this event and he told me that, as usual, he would be in attendance announcing and riding. I have heard that Jason hates the fact that he never seems to have competition in Region 7---what better way to put this matter to rest than to actually see some pros on the water at this event. I already had something planned with Mike Young for this event---details at a later date---but I will PERSONALLY guarantee a $500 purse for Pro Freestyle if three or more Pros are in attendance.
