well after just a few rides on my x-2 i pulled one of my straps off just on the inside..and i found the perfect solution..
to attach them to the outside of the ski i just drilled a couple of holes and inserted stainless bolts gobbed with 5200 and out some washers with nylon lock nuts on them..
for the inside i just used very little 5200 into the predrilled holes with some too short stainless screws with washers...bad idea.:clown:
version 2.0
outside is the same
inside i started by grinding down the glass to get a good surface...i didnt care about looks needs new truf anyway
i then drilled two holes just slightly bigger than 5/16.i think the bit was something like 21/64
then i took these hifty stainless "nuts" i found at ace hardware
i then went about mixing up some epoxy with 404 filler and smeared it on the glass and in the holes...sorry i thought we had a pic but no we dont:thinking:
then i tapped the "nuts" into the holes with a hammer..made sure it was a real snug fit, and gooped the epoxy / 404 peanut butter mix on
let that set up then added one layer of glass.
topped it off with a little more peanut butter.
tomorrow i will take a 5/16 bit and poke it through to the mounts and chase the threads with a tap...these things should never come out again:fing02:
