Drinking at the Riot ride

Most of us plan on having a few at the ride.
Remember, there is no alchohol allowed at the campgrounds. The law will be checkin us out a lot over the weekend. I dont want to see anyone getting tickets for drinking.
Good news is drinking is perfectly legal on a boat. We will have at least one houseboat there all weekend. If you want a beer or whatever, bring it onboard. We got the houseboat for everyone to use.
Think of the houseboat as your hospitality party barge. Everyone is welcome to hang out, drink and even store your adult beverages on it. DNR will check coolers too. So bring em on the boat and everything is golden.

Thats a good point, one evening they walked the camp grounds and even looked in our ice chest, and let us be with a "verbal". But on the bright side they check out Highrollers work. lou

GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
That is such a dumb law.... No drinking and driving a boat/PWC, but its legal to have booze on board! WTF?
You cant have any anywhere else at the lake but on a boat...ridiculous!

They should just make it a" no open container law" inside a boat, just like a motor vehicle.

So what? they are gonna watch you go have a beer on the h-boat and then when you get on your ski, they will bust you?

I'd make sure you go inside the houseboat to drink and not come outside drinking a beer!
Just thinking here. You peeps that go, please be careful! I'd hate to see somebody busted!

Of course we all know that it is illegal to drink and ride. That's why nobody does it!

Hey Ronny, what is the law on alcohol there? I know that in some states you can drink out of an opaque (non see through) container and the cops can't ask or know what's in it. Is it the same there? That would be great to keep a cooler on the boat and pour a cold one into a big ass cup and then come on shore to consume your beverage of unknown ingredients. Think it will work? If someone has a spare hull sitting on a scissor stand in the water can they drink on that/store beer in it?

that wont aplly here, the DNR, or any county sheiriff can and will inspect what you are drinkin, its strange but yes you can have booze on the house boat and the house boat only, not the campgroound and not jet ski cove, in Ga. the house boat is just that a house and what you do in your house is your thing. alot of time they just take away the cooler....................its sad to see a full cooler of longnecks go away with a couple of guys you know are going to drink them theirselfs.

The people going from the house boat to the camp grounds and vise versa will prolly be coming by smaller boat or swimming(last resort, lol) The house boat is the schweetest place. Double decker, slides, jacuzzi, front and back decks. Me and Ratti rode over there at like 2am my first night at the May ride last year.

The issue is that the Lake is an Army Corps of Engineers lake, and those are supposed to be family places. That applies to the campgrounds and the cove. It's really no big deal: if you're drinking when you're skiing out there with monster cruiser wakes and other craft coming from all directions, then you're putting yourself in danger and I don't want to ride anywhere near you. At night the party is on the houseboat anyway, so it's all good. We just need to be respectful of the rules and of other people around the campsite and we'll all have a great time. If not, then they won't be letting us back and the Riot Ride will have to revert to a few locals getting together a couple of times a year.

BK, I do not care that they check coolers. I am not Nick, I have nothing to hide. :sneaky:

Brit, I agree: alcohol and driving of anything (car, truck, PWC, boat, CATERPILLAR) is wrong. And even if you want to abide by that rule, drink AFTER riding...

How the hell do you bring in the C2-H5-OH (alcohol) for the houseboat?

The houseboat will be there friday. When you unload your drinkables, just put them directly on the boat. No probs that way.
We will come stocked with more than our supply so no worries of the Riot crew pilfering your booze.
Tiny will have the shuttle boat so everyone can get to and from the campground.
Swimming or night riding your ski to get to the boat wont be necessary.
Brits post is balls on. As long as we all follow the rules we wont have any problems, and everyone can party all they can handle.

I'll bet if they smell it, they'll check...:sneaky:

I checked into the house boat rentals, myself.

Maybe be I should bring a "limo-sized" shuttle with the turn-out we are anticipating. (see attached)

Props to the Riot crew for the worthy charitable raffle. I hope we exceed their goal.
