Well ..... I got a sh*& load of sanding and fairing to do , but it went well . I made one small modification . I decided to cut down the width of the gunwale another 1/2 inch to allow for more cushy under pad between my ankle and gunwale. Think Im going to buy an air file ..... added an layer of fairing compound while it was wet just to get a jump on it. Need to do the inside reenforcement tomorrow and I'll be done with the glass work . I think it's going to break 114 lbs we will know this week.

DONE WITH THE GLASS WORK ! Did the rest of the inside reenforcement tonight ..... went like a you tube video ... about time. Did a little fairing as well . Did I mention there is going to be a SH!+ load of sanding and fairing . Hope to prime and paint next week. Going with a high vis yellow despite Mrs. sportfish saying yellow does not look good on me . Function over fashion , I figure for a surf boat brighter is better . Probably using an acrylic enamel for scratch resistance ..... IMO really useless painting a ski in the first place .

Verdict is in ! 113.5 bare hull (missed it by .5 pounds ) 122 with hood / holds / tubbies . In Hind sight I think I could have shaved 15 pounds or so by not reenforcing every cut /seem with several layers of 1208 . Should have used one small 4 inch strip of 1208 to stick and hold it in place then reenforced it all at one time using carbon . It would have been a little more expensive , but less work .... The WCF top deck took some major reenforcing ( Understand this was a VERY early version ... maybe one of his first . Repeat this is NOT Steves current work ) .

In the end , you can't make chicken salad out of chicken :-):-):-):-) ....... but if you add enough mayonnaise you can make it more palatable .

What is this felling you keep referring to, are you going into the tree cutting business?

    Feeling ..... butt hole

Well all primed up and no place to go . Primed and filled pin holes until I'm not going to fill pin holes any more . It's not perfect but it's all I'm going to do . You can fill sand and prime for a month of Sundays. Big lesson to all you wanna be hull builders. When you prime, use a good epoxy high build surfacing primer. it will save you some labor plus make it easer to hide fairing mistakes. We were going to spray yesterday , but my wife's cousin bailed out on me ....... IN LAWS !

    i was thinking today...
did you do anything at the end of your cuts (pump side) for shaping the hull for rocker to prevent the cut/crack from continuing down the length of the ski?

Damn..... I know there was something left on the list.

Good question, one thing I would different is only lay one layer of biax to tie all my cuts back together then do all my reinforcing at one time instead of piece milling it. I could have saved time material and weight. All my seams have multiple layers of 1208 / carbon. Probably overkill . Boyer is right as soon as you get to the end of one build your start thinking about the next.......

Thanks for the positive comments .... would love to get this garage dog on the water soon.

i'm trying to semi-imitate your build and was thinking that i should drill a whole at the end of the cuts in the hull so that the cut/crack doesn't continue.

can you share with me any tips and tricks on keeping the hull where you want it when you shaped it with the heaters and bracket? or can i trust it will stay there after i let it cool over night?

Smc is thermoformed, when you heat it you can bend it where you want it, once it cools it retains that shape, this process happens in a matter of minutes
