    Q8??? Who has ridden them

From the pics I saw of Brenden wearing out his new Q8 with a little ol 701 in it-that must be one awesome hull. Who has ridden the Q8 hull and what do you think? Or he is sandbaggin the chit out of the cc's or both?.?.?

I have rode 2 different Q8s, one was Rambo Rosie's Q8 with a stock Kawi 800 motor w/b-pipe and the other one was Eric Malone's personal Q8 with an EME1000 motor. Needless to say Eric's was way too much for me to handle and I wasn't ready for it. Motor aside, the hull is quite amazing. I'm not the best at creating a setup wake yet with this hull design the setup wakes it creates are as if a wake boat with a ballast just went by. Not to mention is is much shorter than most other hulls. At first when I got on it I felt like I was on a toy because of how small it is, but it is surprisingly light also. I must say that even with a stock motor this thing gets right up out of the water. After riding two Q8s with to totally opposite motor setups, I am convinence that this is going to be the next hull I purchase.

Hope this helps and if you have any other questions about my experience with this hull, feel free to let me know.

Just don't plan on riding surf with it. It is very hard to control from what I have heard.

BTW, I can plate to plate my heavy white bitch with a stock 701 too!! what does that mean?

Something I am NOT a fan of. I want a ski to try to backflip when I pull the trim. If I don't pull the trim, I want it to stay FLAT.

I rode Eric's 1000 and Rosie's SXR powered Q8's. I thought it was a fun ride, for a few minutes, but I would not rush out and buy one. I think if you just wanted to do flatwater flips it would be a much better investment than a big motor simply b/c the hull wants to flip, it is shorter and only weighs 60lbs. It is stable from side to side but as waterfreak said, don't plan on riding in the surf with it. Even though it has the sxr stability in some aspects of its design, it is still a 60lb hull that pops out of water. I think it would be too twitchy out in the ocean. But all that aside I think it is just to purpose built for my liking. I could see many tricks being lost or extremely challenging on a set up like that. I'm a big fan of the old school hood tricks, bull dogs, subs and combos. I just see those being lost in translation when you start chasing down the coveted flatwater backflip.

If all you want to do is flatwater flips and big rolls then the Q8 is an excellent choice........... probably the best. But if you want a boat that can do that everything well I would just stick with a superjet based hull. If you want a superjet that will flip better, just take 2in off the rear and your good. If you don't have the power, just hit a small wake
