ZERO CLIENT

Unfortunately, I must post negative feedback about a transaction with forum member Zero Client.

Back in October 2017, Zero Client and I negotiated for the sale of his not running 2014 Superfreak Bada$$. He told me he could have got it running but had decided to sell it as-is and move on. Having coordinated a meet time, I traveled the 14-hour roundtrip to pick up the ski and paid in cash. He was super friendly when I picked up the ski and provided registration, a bill of sale, and photocopy of his driver’s license. As it was the end of the season, he was kind enough to offer for me to let his registration ride until it expired the following year.

After the registration had expired in 2018, I tried to register the ski in NC but fish & game told me that the seller’s signature on the bill of sale needed to be notarized, as GA is a non-titling state for PWCs. At that time, I was busy with a new job, didn’t pursue the registration further, and did not take the ski out at all.

Fast forward to June 3 of this year, I texted Zero Client and asked if I could email him a scan of the original bill of sale and if he would be so kind as to provide another bill of sale with his signature notarized. His answer was “sure” and provided his email.

Nine days later on 12 June, I texted again to ask for an update and he said he didn’t get an email from me. So I emailed him the information again.

The following day, I checked with him again and his reply was “Two notaries said they won’t stamp it without you filling the form and being present. You should try filling the form in, bring the ski w you to the notary and get it stamped.”

Not sure he understood how this process worked, I replied, “All NC needs is a generic bill of sale with your notarized signature. They don’t need the GA form. NC will create a new NC title with your verified signature.”

He replied with “I’ll try a different way.”

Eight days later I asked again for an update and he replied, “No been out of town. I get back Sunday.”

At this point, I gave up.

On December 2, I logged on to the X to find Jet Maniac for their Black Friday deals. I then noticed Zero Client’s listing for another ski. I bumped his post and asked him for a notarized bill of sale again.

Guess what? It worked. It only took me being ugly to get him to do it. From my experience, if you buy anything from Zero Client that requires a title or registration, bring a notary with you. He can’t be bothered with helping out after the sale.

Look at this. He bought a whole ski from me for cash, which was in fact blown. The ski's state was Fully disclosed in the listing from 2017, and is listed somewhere here on the X still for reference. It was a blown ski for a good price, and he got it out of a lot of people who were jockying for it.

He admitts to waiting 18 months to try and register the ski, and even admits to using the ski under my registration until expiration - ILLEGAL if you ask me. He asked me twice over the summer (Thats 18 months after the sale) to help - while I was on vacation with family (YES for 3x weeks), then I heard nothing so I thought he was all registered and ready to go because he should have probably figured out that in NC there are a couple of ways to register a ski; and apparently he doesn't mind registering skis for years after he buys them. I gave him ALL the required paperwork that I had; everything 100% perfect. A bill of sale and even a registration card that was actually listing the ski as a Superfreak BadAss in 2017.

Perfect from my side.

Then he trashed my newly listed complete post asking for registration on a ski I sold him 2 years ago. I heard NOTHING from 18 months until just recently; when he decided to strong-arm my FS post for a notorized BOS (Which BTW, he had a legit BOS from 2 years ago. The ski is a %100 good working perfect flatware ski;

This person MADE me jump through hoops in order to get his trash removed from my other active FS post, 24 months after we made a good sound deal - to which he admits was a good deal. Then TRASH

Yes, thank you to ZERO CLIENT again for giving me a legitimate bill of sale after I made him jump through hoops to get it to me. It shouldn’t have come to that but it did. As he pointed out to me in post #1 above, “A “Bill-Of-Sale”…must include notarization of the seller’s signature(s).” He finally did that for me and I thank him again for that effort.

To my knowledge, no one asked ZERO CLIENT if anything was illegal, but I asked NC Fish & Game if it was and they said everything was legal. They did ask if there was a reason why the seller had such difficulty notarizing a bill of sale. I didn’t offer a theory.

Now, I did get a “blown” ski for a good price and I had and have no problem with that. Most people are on the hunt for distressed properties. ZERO CLIENT’s tinkering paid off for me in this case.

I might point out for potential future buyers of this individual’s motorized vehicles to check EVERYTHING prior to use. It appears that the piston grenaded itself due to a carburetion, waterline routing, or timing problem or combination of the three.

After teardown, carburetion was 110 main, 120 pilot, high 1/2 out (back), 3/4 out (front), low 3/4 out, 2.3 n/s, 65 g spring. The carbs were pretty dirty too so I ultrasonically cleaned them and rebuilt with Mikuni kits.

Also, timing was mechanically advanced AND running MSD Enhancer so I kept the Enhancer and took the mechanical advance out.IMG_6311.JPG

I then reached out to the original engine builder for advice. After asking him, he had pointed out the carbs had been changed from what he had originally spec’d, but gave me settings of 130 main, 120 pilot, 1/2 turn out high and low, 2.0 n/s, 115 g spring OR reverse jetting spec of 100 main, 115 pilot, 1 turn out high and low, 2.3 n/s, and 65 g spring for these different carbs.

This is what ZERO CLIENT texted me about carb settings:No been out of town. I get back Sunday.png

I sent the cylinder to the builder with one new Wossner piston and he replaced the cracked piston sleeve. The other sleeve and piston were still good. After I got the cylinder back, I put in a new ADR crank, new OEM crank seals, and one new ADA dome. I ran the 130 main spec from the builder and it runs flawlessly (of course on a private pond after the reg expired).

Oh, also I replaced the FPP mid pipe because one screw was seized and another one was replaced with a bolt, I ran waterline routing suggested by the builder as opposed to house brass fittings, and replaced the Franken-hose exhaust pipe with a single silicone one. As for me, I ask for and follow advice from people that know what they’re doing because tinkering can get expensive; that is unless you’re shopping for distressed properties.IMG_6309.JPGIMG_6308.PNGIMG_6310.JPG

I did leave with a bill of sale but it wasn’t notarized. After trying that non-notarized one and it didn’t work, I asked for a notarized one and got bs excuses.
I even tried the photocopied drivers license from him and it didn’t work. And then tried “home built” and it didn’t work.
Yeah, Harrison I know in AL they just need a napkin with chicken scratch on it. I sold someone a ski when I was in Pensacola and they registered it across the border in AL. Every state IS different (as you surely must know).
As a retired Marine, I’ve lived in a bunch of states and registered/ titled skis in a bunch of states so, yeah it’s always a new day.
So get personal and call me chickenchit, that’s fine, I know what I’ve done for our nation and it’s citizens so it doesn’t really bother me. I’ve heard worse.
If someone came to me after a year or five needing help registering an old ski of mine, I wouldn’t hesitate to help them out. I guess everyone is different.
I won’t ask to buy anything of yours so sleep easy. It seems I’m the only one in this affair to not have resorted to name-calling. Have fun on the playground everyone.

Thank you for your service. Please accept my apology for the chickenchit comment.

I do not agree with starting a negative feedback thread when you got what you needed. You waited over 18 months which you admitted. Yes, once you contacted Eric it still took jumping through hoops. But starting a feedback after the fact is just not cool. If you started it before he finally agreed to get you re revised BOS that is one thing.

No worries. Apology accepted. My family had it worse than me.

As far as the feedback, I take no pleasure in it but just didn’t want it to happen to the next guy or gal.

For OCD: The Notary managed to stamp the GA form no problem and NC Fish & Wildlife Commission accepted it from a different non-titling state (GA) as proof of sale.

So let me get this straight. This negative report was filed AFTER the documentation cleared in NC and the ski was successfully registered.

On the ignition timing comment; the ski was running 50/50 race/pump gas. Also many folks do advance MSD a few degrees from center. Exhaust hose was in it like that for years with no issue. The hull has 2x 1/2" fittings and the insides all 3/8 and so adapters were used instead of buying a block from McMaster cause I had all the fittings. Brass is acceptable for all water types.

What more the OP wants? No clue. A chance to bash me for a sale from 2 years ago; for a ski that ran for 4 years and then blew on the as-is setup? Registration lapse of 18~24 months from the buyer with terrible timing and excuses?

What's next? I bet he calls a lawyer and sues me for selling him a well documented blown up ski that I dusted.

Your military status has absolutely nothing to do with anything here what-so-ever, and if you think it does then you are sorely mistaken and using your status as a cop-out excuse and a bad person. You are NOT better than ANYBODY else.
