World's smallest fire extinguisher

Id run it if it would get me out of a ticket, anyone had any luck with the excuse "Ski came from factory with no fire extinguisher, so like old cars with no seatbelts installed from factory i was told i didn't legally need one"

That doesn't apply. By definition any ski is classified as a PWC which is required to have a Coast Guard Approved Class BC-1 fire extinguisher. Doesn't matter if it came with one or not. Just like a life jacket, it is required by law to operate the vessel.

So going off that logic, where to jetsurfs fall? They are a motorized personal watercraft, with no extinguisher.

I have no clue on the jetsurf but I know all the standup and sitdown jet skis are classified as a "Class A" inboard boat by the Coast Guard and have to have an approved fire extinguisher. I would rather find the smallest BC-1 rated fire extinguisher than spend $80 on something that isn't approved in the US and hope I don't get a ticket.

You are free to argue it with your local law enforcement if you like.

Yea, not sure where it falls either. I don't run an extinguisher period, but if I could get legal with something small and easily attached like that then I wouldn't mind doing it. Not that I would ever use it. If my engine catches on fire i'm not reaching into the flame to grab a extinguisher, and if someone else is on fire, well best of luck, my ski has zero flotation, so that hood ain't coming off in the water.

I agree. I would throw one to someone in need but not opening my hood when it is on fire to get the extinguisher.

The website said they are working on petitioning the United States UL to get them approved so that would be pretty cool if they can. They would be great to keep in the cars and skis since they don't expire and are so small.

Yea super nice form factor, would be real handy to have. 80 is a little steep, but that fact that it doesn't go back makes that a little easier to swallow.

I think its dumb we have to carry one, if my ski is on fire, I'm going to flips it over or get the hell away from it, not open the hood, introduce more oxygen to get a tiny extinguisher out. I talk to a patrol about that, he said: it isn't for you, it's for if another boat is on fire.... ya ok, I'm going to risk my life to go put out this resin/fuel/etc fire with my tiny extinguisher that won't do jack to that fire... dumb:

Just tell them that you'll do a fountain into the boat, which would put out the fire quicker than any extinguisher that's on a ski. Lol
