How much HP is a supercharged spark motor supposed to have? Project looks sick and a friend of mind wrecked their spark so I know of a motor nearby I just figured the stock form of the motor wouldn't be too much fun. Can't wait to see finished product here!

With the turbo that motor is capable of 200+ easy. Closer to 250 if fully built and pushing 20+psi. Stock form you can have it flashed to 110hp on 93 octane.... 5-10 more hp if using race fuel or e85 with a more aggressive tune

Wow I had no idea you could get to the 200 mark. I might try and find myself a hull and a winter project now. Would these motors fit in a standup hull you think or have to be in a taller sit down or fixed steering hull? I thought I saw something about the drive coupler being too tall for a standup hull but figured making own motor mounts like you and it could be done?

People thought the bottom of the motor would be on the floor of the ski before the centerline between engine to midshaft was achieved but you can see that it works. I've seen a turbo spark engine in a superjet out of New Zealand. They mounted the turbo in front of the engine. I believe he is a world champion with that ski from world finals. There's alot of hurdles to make it happen. Motor mounts, engine alignment, midshaft adapter, fully waterjacketed turbo fabrication, and fueling/tune. In the blaster, the stock intake manifold won't work but it does in a standup. I'm waiting on the 2018 SJ to be sent to some companies so I can get one with the powerplant pulled out of it and do a naturally aspirated spark engine SJ. Have 3 spark engines ready to go

I was thinking of a blaster or SXR with a spark motor would be awesome. I'm sure the SJ would be awesome as well. If I could find a well priced hydrospace or proforce I think that would be sick too but at that point I'd just buy the new SXR. I think for me SXR spark would be ideal and could be done cheap depending on how much I would have to spend on the spark donor motor. Thanks for good response and info of hurdles to think about before hand.

I was going to ask how the turbo was going to be cooled. I guess water would be the best way to cool that down rather than running oil since the water will be cold and not recycled. Ive never messed with adding a turbo so I am just trying to think of how its done outside jet ski world and what could be done on a ski. Really giving me a SPARK of imagination for off season kinda nonsense for myself lol.
 
Dang, I had a long typed out response but it didn't post with the pics. I'll try to shorten it up some...

Spark engines will usually run you between $1500-2500.

Turbos need lubrication.... Most of them use oil but the one I'm using for the blaster is a special oilless turbo that is lubricated with grease. Biggest advantage is that I can mount it in any orientation I want without worrying about the oil in coming from the top and oil out coming out the bottom.

With turbos in skis, biggest part is keeping Temps down to not melt fiberglass. That's why the uppipe, exhaust housing and downpipe need to be waterjacketed. Basically the exhaust gas flows through the turbo system like normal but the uppipe, exhaust housing and downpipe are surrounded with a shell of water. See pics in previous post
 
A little to update. Got another Spark engine in a couple days ago. I've been letting the motor mounts glue dry and the ski was at my dads where I did the motor mount work over the weekend so I brought it home yesterday afternoon.

•The Spark gas tank fits up front pretty good and I may be able to get the gas fill on the tank to hookup to the gas cap on the blaster. Won't find out for sure until I grind down the oem tank mounts up front and then slide the tank in reversed.
•Decided on final turbo placement as I had a couple of options but I think this is the best route for weight distribution and how I'll be able to route piping to/from the turbo. The stock spark waterbox pictured is not the waterbox I'll be using... I'm actually still debating on using a waterbox but if I decide to use one, I have a couple ideas on how to connect to it where water wont be coming back towards the turbo.
•I knew from initial fitup that the corner of the intake manifold didn't fit but with engine in, I checked again and yep.... still doesn't fit. Just wanted to make sure before making my own intake manifold.

Seeing these 3 spark engines with 3 blasters in the garage had me thinkin..... hmmm. Anyway, next up is cutting out the oem tank brackets & waterbox brackets and then fiberglassing the motor mounts in and adding some glass to the pump tunnel. I'm ordering a bunch of materials I need to get a good start on the turbo piping. I am a maintenance turnaround scheduler by trade so I made a real simple checklist with durations by activity to help me not fall behind from forgetting about something. I plan to update this and add to it as I go and figured it could be a help to others ever wanting to tackle a project like this.
