Time Sert

Do you guys recommend/used stainless or carbon steel TimeSert for the 62T manifold bolt holes? any drill and tap required or does the M8 x 1.25 TimeSert have M10 x 1.25 outer threads and screws right in.
Thanks in advance.

Carbon. Stainless to aluminum in this case isn’t best. They go right in. I’ve done 5 plus cylinders. Bought timeserts on amazon and usually come before I have time to work on it. (2 days)

TIME-SERT M8x1.25x16.2mm Insert

Just put them in! Tool is handy but not 100% required. The oem Chamfer on threads has been enough to seat the lip

Want to do it right buy the install kit. It comes with drill, tap, cutter, and install tap. Helps for other areas like nozzle bolts

I have counter sink drill bit and will sink it a little more. thanks for the tip

Yep! Your right. Stainless to stainless is not the best for this application.

The insertion tool expands that back side of the insert. It’s good to have the install tap not the thread tap

I have been using stainless heli-coils. No issues after a few years and multiple manifold changes.
all depends what grade stainless helicoil uses versus the bolts you use. Steel coated bolts to stainless is fine. That would be probably what you have.
