The Best Flat Water Shoes????

What shoes are people wearing on their flat water skis? I have a DVX with an 898 and I have been having a tough time finding something that works well. I had my fit slide out 4 times this weekend. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated…

Some people have started using soccer cleats. But otherwise most use wrestling shoes.. A lot depends on how your footholds are set up. With tight enough footholds and a wedge or raised edge behind your heel you should stay in.

Kick in harder or add more padding to your holds. Also consider a heal lock.

Couple I know use chuck Taylor's or knockoffs with neoprene socks. They swear by them. I use a mesh hiking shoe from Dick's.

jet tribe.jpg Jet Tribe RS-15. WAAAAAY better grip than wrestling shoes, or any other of the bazillion 'PWC' shoes I've tried. Plus they drain better and dry quicker than wrestling shoes or sneakers, so they don't get stanky, plus they'll last longer. I use the tall Jet Tribe socks with them.

People with the cleats, yall must be pro turfers by now? Amiright
I too thought initially that the turf was going to get ruined quickly but it doesn't. The bigger concern I believe is the increase in potential injury because if you kick in real hard you can be locked in too much; tweak an ankle or knee on a bad landing.

are you guys with cleats using molded or cut turf? I don't see the cut stuff lasting a weekend with cleats

I have tried wrestling shoes. And I think the grip is not good enough.
Last rides I have been running with Nike Airmax mesh. But the grip is still not what I wish for.
Think I'll try cleats for the sake of it. :)

The best shoes I have found by far are soccer cleats, but the turf cleats not grass. The grass cleats are great but eat up the foothold, the turf soccer cleats have little rubber grips that stick like big cleats but leave your turf fresh like wrestling shoes. I switched to soccer shoes after slipping out on a combo, even with a heal lock. Make sure whatever shoes you wear are not a plastic leather because they are more "slippery" from what I have found. A real leather, or Kangaroo leather commonly used in soccer cleats holds up to water use and grips awesome when wet.

I have tried cleats with small heal locks, works but destroys the turf. Plus, I didn't like having to switch shoes between freestyle and race ski so I went back to wrestling shoes and use the @ShowtimeStocks heal locks on my DVX.
