Tell me what I bought :)

Hey guys,

So I have an X2 that I love but wanted to try the full stand up thing so I bought a Kawasaki 750 project last winter.

It has low compression but runs fine on the stand. it has 85psi front and 135psi rear. So I am thinking of redoing the top end.

I am not sure what model or year it is so maybe someone can tell me what I have.

There is no HIN as some one has chopped it up. The engine number is JH750CE004978.

Ill post some pix of it asap.

Thanks

750sx with footholds and stock pipe.
Sounds like it needs a hone and rings at least. Most likely needs pistons and a bore

it appears to be a 1992 thru 1994 since it has a single carb. if its that year, it has a small pin 750 motor. sounds like the top end is worn out and seized and probably the crank is ready to let go also. I've seen many guys rebuild a top end only to have the crank lose a bearing and blow the new top end to shreads. that thing looks pretty beat. looks like it has a 1995-2002 aluminum waterbox that probably replaced the exploded stock glass box. typical. its got an old R&D head on it and a green exhaust manifold that came off a newer 750sxi/pro. i'd be willing to bet that every nut and bolt has been removed/replaced at some point. lol

It runs fine on the stand. I haven't had it in the water yet. I may pull the engine out and check the top and bottom end too. Yeah it looks pretty rough but i have a vision lol...

With that compression. "It does not run fine on the stand"......... It is just able to crank and rev up. There is no load on the motor. Sorry Blue, but you have to pull the engine.

JH750CE004978.

JH is a sit down designation.

CE is a "C" series engine from a ZXI.

You need to look at the casting #'s on the cylinder and head to determine
where they came from.

It appears as though you bought a ski that was assembled from a box of parts.
