I'm not good enough to race, and barely good enough yet to just make it around any buoys, but I plan to start coming out there just to ride. I've been going to Fiesta Island since I got my old Superjet last summer, but LB is a lot closer to my home in Orange. I was actually thinking about heading over this Sunday, but the weatherguessers predicted it would be cool and cloudy. Here in Orange, I don't see any damn clouds. Looks like a great day to me, although now at 2pm a breeze is starting to pick up.

I don't race the bouys either but it is cool to ride when others are riding for whatever reason. Its more fun there when it gets blown out a bit, early mornings the water is to glassy. noon is a good time. you have a beach cart? I'll be out there next sunday for sure. In 20 years of randomly going there I've never got a warm feeling from people who ride there, its a click for sure. Week day afternoons are the best IMO

I have the Tiger Tote beach cart, so I'm all set there. I still need to figure out if I can get it into the Jeep after I load the ski on the back. If not, I'll need to use my big truck which isn't a big deal on the weekends, but for a midweek run the Jeep would be a lot better. I work in Gardena, so I drive through Long Beach on the way home.

I went to Granada today for my first time. Definitely a shorter drive than going all the way to Fiesta Island. However, it is a killer workout. Felt a bit like American Gladiator to this old man.

Haul ski to water.
Launch, then run the tote back up the beach and get back before a rogue wave swamps the ski.
Ride for an hour and a half until fuel gets low. Although there is a sea break, there is still some swell and chop to deal with, so riding is tiring.
Now the fun part: get the ski back on the tote!! I was flailing for a while, but luckily someone from the dog beach decided to help out. There were no other jet ski riders out. They must all have gotten sucked into Mothers Day shenanigans or something.
Then, pull the ski up out of the sand back onto the pavement, and back to the truck.

Whooo! I'm glad I went and will do it again, but there are definitely some reasons to consider the long drive down to San Diego. Hopefully my next time to Granada there will be other riders out there.

Ouch! Bummer about the hand.

I was in the water roughly 10am to 11:30. I was leaving just as the sun started coming out, which was unfortunate, but it wasn't cold. I kind of miss not paying extra to get a beach cart with a winch. I think that would help to load the ski by yourself in the waves. The beach carts are all pretty expensive, though, so I was trying to be minimalist.

I had a tiger tote with a winch, it was a pain in the ass in the waves, most people I see down there have an older AC beach dolly or the jet lift brand.

I work in Gardena also. Live in Long Beach. been a crazy weather spring so far. hoping we get some buoys out there soon. Maybe they have been riding but i have not been able to make it out. yet

if anyone wants to text me at 310.684.8182 i can add you all to the groupme text message we use to coordinate.

Cool. I went to Fiesta Island both days this weekend, but I almost went to LB for Sunday. Maybe next time. I sure burned a lot of gas between the truck and ski.

Someone gave me a hint that I'll have to try next time I load the ski on to the beach cart from the water. His recommendation was to get the ski onto the scissor stand, and from there directly onto the beach cart. I normally float the ski off the scissor stand and then wrestle it onto the cart fighting the floating wheels. Seems like a good trick, so I'll have to try that next time and see if it makes things easier.

oouch! that's a lot of gas. I hit up Elsinore yesterday afternoon and felt like a lot of gas. it's LB from here on out, Although the lake is full from all the rain, the water temp is getting to warm to be safe and fun. Post when you are hitiing the LB.

I've been wondering how the water is at Elsinore after all the rain this winter. Hopefully better than last year. Too bad they can't just chlorinate the lake. We checked out La Laguna campground last summer and it looks pretty awesome, but the water was foul! Amazing they put millions of $ into that campground, but can't do anything about the water quality. I noticed there will be some races out there in mid July. I'll go check that out, but I'll probably stay out of the water.

So, this Sunday I plan to head to Granada. I'll be in the parking lot around 9 or so., in the water maybe 9:30ish. Hopefully the sun comes out. I might go out there Saturday as well, but need to get some errands done so I'll play that by ear.

I've been going to Fiesta a lot. Need to break it up a bit and get back out to Granada soon.

I'll actually be in the neighborhood tomorrow. Wifey has been curious about jet skis, so I decided to take her out on a couch ride out of Long Beach. We'll be renting near the Queen Mary, and then tooling around for a bit. Unless she freaks out, I expect we'll do a drive by late morning. Hopefully some folks will be out, but with the Elsinore races this weekend maybe not.
