This is not a bash! Shawn hasn't wronged me, he actually bought a hull from me, and has helped out a friend in urgent need of a mid shaft! SO PLEASE BEFORE READING, THIS IS NOT ABOUT SHAWN'S PERSONALITY, ONLY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF A PART I GOT FROM HIM. Please also note this is in the product review section and not negative feedback.

I wanted to purchase a real RRP chin pad and had ordered one from Thrust but they discontinued the orange carbon, so I went for Shawn's since it was just carbon with no colors or logos. I was under the impression it was going to be clear coated and ready to go minus turf since he didn't have black at the time. I got there and he had sold the one he was gonna give me and gave me one that wasn't clear coated and had no mounting brackets. The chin pad was super thin however the carbon did look nice.

I accepted the chin pad and sent it to a buddy (tbaer) for him to professionally clear coat it, had to make shift a home depot bracket as per Shawn's instructions. First back flip I nosed in and here is the result.

I told him about it and he said he had never broke one but offered me a replacement, but I never went to get it because I didnt want another one of these.

So once again I am not bashing Shawn as I have not had any quarrels with him (and hopefully not burning and bridges in case I am in urgent need of a part he might have). I am also not looking to get anything resolved. But every product being sold to X members deserves a review good or bad.

So my Review:
Visually= C
, carbon layup looks nice, if it was clear coated when purchased the grade would be higher.
Structure= F, It was super thin and flexible. There is no way one impact should break the chin pad in half, maybe I am a little harsh here but has anyone broken an RRP pad?
Function= D, no mounting hardware at all. If you want to make this chin pad work you will have to do that on your own.
Overall= D, I wouldn't recommend this product, I'd rather just spend a little extra and get the real deal here. Which after making my own mounts, shipping it to a friend, paying for the clear, I could of just bought a new one and it probably wouldn't be broken right now.

Last Winter, This winter, should not matter. If it was built correctly, then you should not have had this problem. There is more to just mixing up some resin and laying carbon on a mold.........
There has to be a structure for it. It should have had rounded edges turning down, this would have acted as a gusset. FAIL
