And that in a nutshell is why I don't like or recommend wireless cams. They seldom work on the perimeters of service, (where 99% of people want them), and then when you finally break down and run an Ethernet cable out, they don't support POE and now require both 120VAC and Ethernet to function.

Other than falling short a few feet in length, doesn't running a single Cat5e cable out to a 5MP cam seem simpler now? Did you already add a 120VAC outlet or were you using an extension cord to test it out?

I have said it before and will repeat it now. WiFi cams are a bigger hassle to install/setup, are typically of a much lower resolution and almost double the cost of a simple POE cam.

You nailed it! However, I thought about all that. I have a long range router and have good wifi signal on my phone at neighbors houses, and the cam is supposed to be good for 64ft of wireless. My camera is half that. I get full bars wireless on my phone while it is next to the camera.. I am thinking something happened when I unplugged it to move it to the new location. New ip maybe? Just running the cable now to program it and see if it works ok after that. If not I will return it and set out bear traps.

Leave it setup for a bit before you get too antsy. My C2 would take a bit to connect any time i made the swap from wired to wireless. The NVR may need to rediscover it.

Glad I read that.. Bout to lose my shonet. It will not connect plugged in either now.. Also be nice if they had a light or something so you knew they where even on..

I finally got my last cam up and after spending 3 days corresponding with reolink got mad and just reset the whole system which fixed my issue. Now all cams will show alarm events, but record 24/7 which is what I wanted all along.

I have been requesting that feature since I first bought my system so you got me excited that they might have finally added it. Have you gone back and reviewed data that way yet? I did a quick test on one of the units here at work but it doesn't seem to work, at least not the way I am expecting anyways.

What I expect is to bring up a stream recorded 24/7 and see motion events flagged along the timeline at the bottom so you can skip to just the highlights. I bring up a camera set to record 24/7 with motion activated and all I see is a solid stream recorded via schedule and nothing else.

@The OCD Garage --- I'm not home right now but have you tried this? https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-u...tion-triggered-events-over-Constant-Recording

If what i'm reading, it looks like it can do what you are talking about.

I wonder if that's new or if I just never found it?

I only have one camera coming up in my searches but now I can enable motion on all the rest and close that gap easy enough!

Well it's not quite what I was expecting, it took a bit longer to setup and is still a bit quirky. The link Turtle posted only shows how to view the motion events, not set it up so there would be any in the first place. The only reason I had any to see was actually due to a mis-configuration on my part.

So, I mostly only record 24/7 and only have motion setup on two cameras. When I tested the above feature, all I got were the emails and snapshot when either zone is triggered but no alarm events were recorded. I found I had to go into the motion setting and tell each channel to record itself on trigger. This step is necessary so the channel overwrites the scheduled recording and flags it as an alarm event. So simple!

Both the client and app have settings to only show alarm events and now mine should work.

Unfortunately, we have our Christmas lights up right now so the damn sparkling laser show is causing all kinds of nuisance trips. Heaven forbid I turn it off for even a couple seconds...much less a whole night..."insert colossal eye-roll emoji here"

The only camera I have set to push notifications is my front porch. The rest capture too many events with the dogs moving around and stuff like that. Now if I can figure out how to stop all the gnats and moths from flying around the cameras I will be good to go.

Mine save directly into my photo album.

Maybe check the Reolink app and make sure you have given the app access to the camera and album.

I have IOS but you get the idea.
