Freestyle REBUILD 701 SJ 2016 to a freestyle ski???? From the Netherlands.

Hi guys,

I've got a ton of questions regarding my current ski and what to do with it. I live in the Netherlands and the freestyle market here is completely dead, there are maybe a few companies that are known with this market. There is no forum or person that i know who could help me with what the best strategy is, so let's try it over here!

So right now i have a 2016 SJ which i want to convert slowly in a freestyle ski. i'm a student so i don't have the money to just buy all the good things at once. I want to start this year with some footholds, a protec pipe and maybe a freestyle cone?? But THEN i don't know what to do because for the better tricks you'll need to have a am hull.

Should I just get the original engine to the max then buy a am hull and swap the motor?

And next to the protec pipe (a used one) what would be the best thing to do next for the engine to get the most power out of it? Is there like a guideline for this?- for example i would need a bilgepump, intake, impeller, extended nozzle, trim, etcetc next to those other things but which comes first?

I've just started with learning about the normal principals of the sj engine and stuff like that because i don't know anything about it. I would like to learn about it but it's hard to find the good info over here.

Really would appreciate some advice!

First thing you need to establish, is what kind of freestyle will you ride?
1. Old school, climbing aorund on the jetski and doing roll and stuff.
2. New school, doing big arieal tricks, like 360, backflips ect.

If you want nr 1. go ahead use your SJ hull and modify that.
If you want nr 2, you need a AM hull no matter what. You could start with a cheap budget AM hull.
There is alot of people riding at landsard beach Einhoven?

In the end new school but the Main thing is that i cant afford a am hull right now ( cant find a decent used one beneath 5k) So i just wanna start with the engine.

Parts like an intake wont fit on every hull, right? So i shouldnt use my money for things like that if i eventually would buy a am hull.

What can i do right now to improve the engine and stil use in a am hull. How do i spend my money at best?

Get your motor ported (or buy a freestyle porting template and port it yourself if you're handy)
ADA Head with domes to give you higher compression.
MSD Enhancer
Lighten your flywheel
And a million other little things.....

If you want new school. you spending your money much wiser finding a new hull.
You can drop 10K into that motor and pump, and you wont be able to do anything else, than you can with a b pipe and head (stock sj hul)

Yes im aware of that. I need the hull, but for new school freestyle ill need both. Because a am hull and a orginal motor wont get me far enough. And the hull isnt as easy to get over here in europe as in the us.

So to start, i think financially its better to get a pipe and add the stuff SXIpro said and over one or two years get a new am hull right?

Ill be keep looking for a hull but i didnt find any on the dutch market. Maybe someone knows another place or site in europe? Or what are the transport cost from us to europe?

Anyway, thanks for the reply’s guys!

Well, i have had around 4-5 diffrent setups. i would ANY time rather have a stock engine ish' setup in a good hull. than a big engien in a $hit hull.
I think there is pretty decent options here in Europe. Im in Denmark.
How much can you spend on a hull now? what do you plan on investing in the next year?

Thats Peter Waldron on a DVX with a 701 with a b pipe, super nice hull and good rider.

The cost of shipping a hull from Australia or USA to Europe is roughly 1000 USD (+/- some)

Listen to Christian_83,as well as SXIPro.Both are very knowledgeable about skis.Since Christian is the closest one, follow his advise to direct you on skis and where to find parts.Either way you go,start slow and buy the best parts so not to waste a ton of money to find out later that there was a better one out there.May take longer to get what you want with your budget, but will be well worth it.
@JetManiac is a great supplier of parts here on the X.He can help with what parts to buy too, without selling you something that is junk or wont work well with your needs are.

Right , So a factory pipe will do the job in a am hull. I spoke with my Yamaha dealer who told me this: with the factory b pipe ill need a new solas impeller 13/17 , new intake and a ??new intake manifold of 135mm?? Not sure about the Numbers and translation of the last one but Those things are the most important and Will get the maximum out of the pipe.

He also told me not to start with the compression stuff because it Will give a lot more trouble on the longterm.

So with these parts installed this year and maybe a few minor things, i’d be ready to start looking for the am hull. Cause its a pretty new motor and i dont want to chance more than necessary.

And with the video you posted i think this is about enough right?

Two weeks ago I didn't know anything about the jet ski engine so for now every advice is more then welcome. Appreciate the effort of those guys and will take their advice.

For the parts i should find a european dealer otherwise it is not profitable with the shipping and import costs.

But for the parts like i said in the last post, for the impeller, it should be a 13/17 and the manifold from 130 to 135?

Your dealer is totally wrong. A factory pipe only needs new jets in the carb, not a new intake.

You can run your stock impeller as it is pretty good on the 2008 and newer skis.

Pump gas safe compression from an ADA or similar head will not cause any issues at all.

The 2 most common mods on any superjet are Factory B Pipe and 180 psi head, hundreds if not thousands of them out there without really any issues.

Thats why i wasn't sure about the translation, he (my dealer) meant the jets in the carbs. I will look into that stuff after the factory pipe i guess. It's all to expensive to do at once, thanks though.

You didn´t say anything about your riding skills. for how long do you ride standups?

as mentioned: b-pipe, impeller (hooker), ada head, porting

standup fun costs... you won´t get power for nothing, specially here in europe

jetmainiac

is where i get my parts from... good used parts are hard to find in europe

for good porting nearby get in touch with with www.tk-funsports.de
